Joint pain? Causes and Treatment

Πόνος στις αρθρώσεις Αίτια και Αντιμετώπιση

The joint is actually the meeting point of two bones and allows the body to move. Joints include the joint of the shoulder, hips, elbows and knees.

Joint pain is a general category and refers to a feeling of discomfort, difficulty in movement, the sensation of tightness and of course actual, acute pain. Many times, it is the result of a disease e.g. arthritis or injury or other factors.

Common causes of joint pain:

Arthritis

The number one cause of joint pain. The two main forms of arthritis are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. According to the American Institute of Rheumatology, osteoarthritis occurs in people over the age of 40. Its progression is slow and usually affects the wrists, hands, hips and knees.

Essentially, the pain, in cases of osteoarthritis, results from the deterioration of cartilage in the joints.

The second type of arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, according to the Arthritis Foundation, occurs more often in women than in men. Over time the joints become deformed, which causes pain, inflammation and fluid buildup in the joints as the immune system itself attacks the membrane surrounding the joints.

Other causes

Bursitis or inflammation of the “cushion” around the joint

Lupus

Gout

Some infectious diseases, such as flu, hepatitis, etc.

Patellar chondropathy

Injury

Tendinitis

Infection in the bone or joint

Excessive stress on the joint

Cancer

Fibromyalgia

Osteoporosis

Sarcoidosis

Rickets

Symptoms

In some cases, joint pain requires you to see a specialist. You will need to make an appointment with an orthopedist if the cause of your pain is unknown or if, in addition to pain, there is severe swelling in the joint area, along with redness and increased temperature. Also, if the pain lasts more than 3 days or if you have a fever without other symptoms of fibrosis.

Treatment

Doctors include osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis among the chronic diseases. At present there is no cure that eliminates arthritis-related pain forever. However, there are a few things you can do to get relief.

The use of topical analgesic preparations can relieve the pain and allow you to move comfortably again. We recommend ARTHROCEL. An innovative gel based on liposomal technology. Thanks to it, the bioactive ingredients (MSM & Menthol) are rapidly transported to the site of the lesion and absorbed X 1.6 times better. If the pain is due to arthritis, in addition to anti-inflammatory preparations, you can try therapeutic massage, hot showers, rest.

Movement, too, can help relieve pain. Some gentle exercises or walking, after consulting your doctor, can be very beneficial.

Stretching before exercise to increase the range of motion.

Maintaining a weight within the normal range is very important for joint health. Excess weight puts a strain on the joints and restricts movement.

Joint pain is the result of daily wear and tear as the body grows. Apart from that, it can also be a sign of infection or arthritis. You should visit your doctor if you experience joint pain. Early diagnosis, can lead to more effective symptom management and overall relief of discomfort!
